I'm a farm girl, love my fruits and veggies

I keep raw fruits and veggies ready to munch on rather than sweets. My husband is diabetic and can't have the sugars, but he enjoys fresh fruit as a between meal snack. We eat lots of the vegetables raw also. Fresh cucumber pickles and onions and peppers are among our favorite snack as well as cherry tomatoes, carrots and celery and broccoli etc are great snacks. Add a little dip or cheese and watch them disappear.

I like fruit and veggies

We try to eat as much fresh fruit as we can--especially for a mid-morning and late afternoon snack. We also find that drinking orange juice/V-8 also gives us a serving of fruits/vegs. We also try to eat a small salad at lunch or dinner and instead of a chips/crackers/or potato salad with a lunch or dinner sandwich--use carrots, celery or just a dish of vegetables.

Easier to get plenty when fresh from the garden in summer.

I would like to eat less meat and eat more fruit and veg

We have been enjoying produce from our own garden so we are eating more fresh veggies.

I'd be a vegan if I didn't have to give up meat...:-) LOVE this newsletter!

Check out aboutproduce.com, 5aday.gov, 5aday.com, or eatwellbewell.org for more info on fruits and vegetables.

I agree that if we could get fresh, ripe, etc. fruits and veggies we would be inclined to eat more.

Eating fruits and veggies is more convenient than you'd think. Plus our ideas of portion size are generally skewed. Six baby carrots is a serving. Grab an apple or an orange, or a handful of raisins (1/4 cup) or 5 medium dried plums (prunes). Check out the salad bar. (A cup of salad greens is one serving!) Any one of these is more nutritious and filling (and just as convenient) than a candy bar or chips or all those other things that we think of as being so "convenient."

We're only home for dinner

It is not that we don't care for fruits or veggies, it's that they are not the first thing that comes to mind for snacks, and we often fill up on other componets of our meal before we get that serving of fruit or vegetable eaten. We do like most fruits and veggies, but we need to include more choices in our daily food selections!

Being on a diet, believe me I have discovered fruits and vegetables!

I am working on more!

It's easy! Have frozen berries on cereal or yogurt or saute a few veggies and add egg for a frittata. A salad with sandwich or wrap and fruit for lunch. Steam appropriate serving of two veggies, or one with a small salad and toos 4oz. size serving of meat, poultry, pork or fish or soy burger on the contact grill and fruit if desired for dessert. Simple, fast and yummy.

On a very low carb diet

When actually cooking, 3 to 4. When eating prepared diet foods, zip!

I have to say, I'm guilty of making sure my kids eat plenty of fruits and vegetables each day, but am not so diligent with myself. Silly me.

I really like some salsa on my eggs....an extra serving of veggies!

We have about 5 servings, but it is still not easy

gotta get the veggies!

My husband would live on stir fry veggies every day if I didn't get so tired of them. The one good thing is he cooks them and we eat up to 6 or more veggies and very little meat. Plus for breakfast my husband likes to make a fruit drink with just fresh fruit and no additives, just ice or frozen fruit.Yummy!!

I serve a vegetable and fruit everyday of the week

Remember a glass of juice or a smoothie can be a serving or two!!

Thank you for all of your kind comments and feedback! If you have anything to add click here and send me an e-mail message!
