This experiment uses ordinary kitchen items to create a fascinating 5-10 minute production of whirling, mixing colors. The color show is fun for the whole family to observe. It also makes a great last minute school science project.
Dancing Colors
1 cup whole milk (room temperature)
3 or more colors of food coloring
2-3 drops of dish soap
Pour milk into a shallow dish. Squeeze a few drops of food coloring around the dish, try to keep the colors separate. Drip a couple of drops of dish soap into different areas of the dish. Turn up the music and watch the colors “dance”!
Don’t end the fun just because the colors stop dancing! Break out the paper and paintbrushes and play with the bright new colors created by the experiment. Just be sure not to drink it!
