Hi David,
Bisquick has more than flour and baking powder in it. So if you'd like to make your own mix, here are some various versions to try. The last recipe, you'll notice, doesn't add oil or shortening. I'm not sure whether the oil in the wheat germ makes up for the lack of oil in the recipe. If you decide to try it, you'll have to let me know how it works out.
Homemade Bisquick (Heart Healthy)
8 c. all-purpose flour (or 4 c. all-purpose flour and 4 c. whole wheat pastry flour)
5 Tbsp. baking powder
1 Tbsp. salt
1 1/2 c. dry non-fat milk powder
1 c. canola oil
Combine all ingredients in a food processor or a large bowl. If using a food processor pulse the ingredients until well combined. If using a bowl, use a fork or pastry blender to mash the ingredients into crumbs then mix well with fingers to break up any lumps. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Use in any recipe calling for Bisquick.
