Grilled Blackened Cedar Plank Salmon
Serves: 4
The cedar plank adds a wonderful taste. Plan ahead - soak the plank for at least 1 hour before grilling. You can find cedar planks at kitchen stores, or even hardware stores, but be very careful to get untreated cedar. Treated cedar is toxic.
Ingredients:
Blackening Spice: | |
2 teaspoons | dried basil crushed fine |
1 teaspoon | dried thyme crushed fine |
1 teaspoon | dried oregano crushed fine |
2 Tbsps | garlic power |
2 Tbsps | ground black pepper |
1 Tbsp | smoked paprika |
1 Tbsp | brown sugar |
1 Tbsp | salt |
1 Tbsp | onion powder |
1-2 Tbsp | cayenne pepper depending on taste |
mix together and store in small spice jar | |
For Salmon: | |
1 lb | 1 salmon fillet |
blackening spice | |
cedar plank soaked in water for at least 1 hour | |
Directions:
1. At least 2 hours prior to cooking, soak cedar plank in water.
2. Mix up the Blackening Spice.
3. Rub the salmon with the spice.
4. Heat grill to med-high. Place the salmon on the cedar plank, skin side down. Grill salmon for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is opaque and flaky.
