Food Your Game Day Fans Can't Resist!

I'm going to be completely honest here- I'm really not a big football fan. When I went to school I enjoyed going to a few home games and I still watch my alma mater play every once in awhile, but I don't usually make it a priority.

However, game day food? Now that is something I can get behind;). I love game day food because it tends to be finger foods, appetizers- basically extra tasty food that you eat in bit size morsels and it's fabulous.

Whether you're really into the Super Bowl, watching your favorite college basketball team, or just love good food, here are some ideas you're fans are sure to love!

Sliders. Is there anything better than a slider? Seriously?? So much goodness in one bite. And you can be all sorts of creative with them! Hot ham and swiss; mini hamburgers or BLTs; beef, mushrooms and caramelized onions; chicken, pesto, avocado and roasted red pepper; barbecue chicken with shoestring onions; or even chicken between waffle pieces! The only downside to a slider is it might be too much of a distraction from the game because they're so stinkin' good!

Dips. My other favorite food!! There is something about a good homemade dip that is addicting and comforting and just wonderful. And they are so easy to make! Basically throw your favorite ingredients together with some cream cheese and you can have a killer dip in no time. Think buffalo chicken, barbecue chicken with bacon, or even a sweet dip like a s'mores knock off, or even a chocolate fondue! My mom always makes this Fiesta Corn Dip, and it's to die for- seriously.

Add Recipe to Cook'n

CheeseBalls. Basic, but so so good. My mom always used a recipe that used green onions and allspice, covered in pecans. But you could add bacon, jalapeno, ranch seasoning, or think on the sweet side and go with peanut butter chocolate or even red velvet! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Fries. Ok- maybe I have too many favorite foods;). Fries are an oldie but goodie! If you want to think out of the box, try using something besides a regular potato (butternut squash, sweet potatoes, etc). Bake them with cheese, bacon, ranch dressing, various seasonings, jalapenos- whatever you're craving and they are sure to be a hit!

Meat and Cheese Platter. This one is so easy to put together, yet an old classic for a reason! Add some spray cheese, melted Velveeta, or my personal favorite, a block of cream cheese covered with Harry and David's sweet jelly relish. Now that is some tasty stuff. If you're ambitious and really want to get fancy, try creating one of these crazy things-

I'd much rather watch that than the game haha;).

Mini Pizzas. You can have a whole variety available or even have everyone make their own- just set out the toppings! You could use homemade dough, pre-made crusts, pita bread, French bread slices, refrigerated biscuit dough- whatever you have time for (and your tastebuds are craving;) ).

Nachos. Anohter basic- but you can argue with nachos?? Bake them in the oven with some pulled pork marinaded in rootbeer, or make it really easy by making your favorite queso recipe in the crock pot and let guests dish up their own plate of nachos. (Just make sure you have have all the toppings close by;) ).

What's your favorite thing to serve on game day? Or just your favorite snack food/appetizers in general? I'd love to hear about them!
