Easy Camping Food Hacks You'll Want To Try This Summer

Many of us will go camping this year whether it be in your backyard, on the beach, or by some gorgeous mountain. One of my favorite things about camping is the food and cooking in a camp fire. There is just something that is so primal and about as old school as you can get that I just love :) Here are some fun ideas and hacks to up your camping food game this summer!

Crescent Dough Is Your New Camping Best Friend

Definitely toss a couple cans of crescent dough into your camping food this trip--you can use it in a couple different fun ways.

Campfire Cinnamon Roll-Ups

Wrap some crescent dough with some cinnamon sugar around a skewer to make a cinnamon roll-up.

Easiest Campfire Hot Dogs

Wrap some crescent dough around a hot dog on a stick and you’ve got yourself the world’s easiest hot dog. The charred “bun” is better than any bun I’ve ever had! :)

SUPER EASY TO EAT S’MORES

To make s’mores super easy and fun to eat, try making them in waffle ice cream cones. You can add any combination of some of these fun fillings: little marshmallows, cut up little candy bars or little Mini’s like Reeses, semi-sweet dark chocolate chips, and maybe even some chopped up fruit like strawberries and bananas. Wrap them up in foil and cook until everything is all gooey and melty and delicious!

TIN FOIL DINNERS 2.0!

Loaded Cheesy Fries

How delicious do these loaded cheesy fries look?? These are so easy to throw together. Simply add frozen french fries, bacon bits, chopped green onions and cheese in your tin foil pack and throw it in the fire until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Camping Quesadillas

You could always do simple quesadillas with just cheese but it you really want them to be gourmet quesadillas you can bring: grilled, sliced chicken breasts, salsa, black beans, a jar of Tostitos salsa con queso and some shredded Mexican cheese. Add those ingredients to your tortilla, fold it in half, place on tin foil large enough to cover the quesadilla. Leave the ends open of the tin foil, place the foiled quesadilla on the grate directly over the campfire and keep over the fire until the cheese is melted and tortilla is crispy.

Campfire Corn on the Cob

You can easily make delicious, buttery corn on the cob on your camping trip. Soak your corn in water while still in the husk for 30 minutes before you cook it so it will have plenty of water to steam inside, like it does in a pot of boiling water. Wrap shucked corn on the cob in tin foil with a couple dabs of butter and some salt and pepper. Place foil packages around the edge of the fire on the coals. Do not place them directly in the flame. Cook on coals for 15 minutes. Turn and rotate often.

MAKE MUFFINS OR CINNAMON ROLLS IN ORANGE PEELS

Skip bringing and washing a muffin pan and make your muffins or canned cinnamon rolls in orange peels instead. It also adds a subtle orange flavor, which is always welcome. SimplY cut your oranges in half, scoop the orange flash out and now you have some little individual cupcake pans. Add your batter or cinnamon roll dough to your orange cups, place on tin foil around the outer edges of the fire on the coals and bake them until they are done. Yummy!
