Helpful Tip for Thanksgiving
Most likely, as you prepare your Thanksgiving meal, you're gonna need to view more than one recipe at a time, right? In this article, I'm going to share a tip that will make it easy for you to toggle between different recipes in Cook'n quickly in order to streamline your Thanksgiving meal prep.
The idea to share this tip came from Marvin who sent the following suggestion:
This is a suggestion, not a problem. While doing some advance prep for Thanksgiving I found that there is a real need to have multiple recipe windows open at the same time on a iPad.
When preparing multiple dishes, having to re-search for a second or third recipe while working on the first cumbersome. In reviewing the situation, I have told myself to make this suggestion before. It would be a great help.
As a programming thought it would suffice if there could be multiple instances of Cook’n open at the same time. This might be easier than making major modifications to the user interface.
I hope this leads to Cook’n being a better application.
Thanks for your consideration.
I replied and said:
This is great feedback! I will explore this idea with the Cook'n Elves. In the meantime, you may want to consider using the Smart Folders feature to toggle between different recipes quickly.
For example, if you open three or four recipes that you want to make at Thanksgiving, you can then swap between them very easily using the "Recently Viewed Recipes" Smart Folder.

Here is a screen recording that I made to show you how this is done. In the following screen capture, you will see me...
- Tap My Recipes on the bottom navigation bar
- Tap Smart Folders
- Tap Recently Viewed Recipes
- Tap Turkey with Herbed Rice Dressing
- Tap Back
- Tap Cranberry Waldorf Salad
- Tap Back
- Tap Shoepeg and Green Bean Casserole
- Tap Back
- Tap Turkey with Herbed Rice Dressing once again
As you can see, swapping between multiple recipes in your Cook'n app is super simple!
Alternatively, if you use Cook'n on your laptop, you can actually open and view multiple recipes simultaneously. Here is a video that demonstrates how to do this:
I hope this helps you as you prepare dinner throughout the week. And, I really hope this helps with your Thanksgiving meal prep.
And, since we're on the subject, you may have heard the sad news that BYU lost their first game of the season on Saturday. 😭
But, as I've mentioned in previous issues they've had a great season and they still have a chance at the playoffs and a National Championship. They've just got to win out. So... 🙏 🙏 🙏
The interesting part of the game that really impressed me was the following clip:
As you can see in this clip, before the BYU vs Kansas football game started, the BYU fans were heckling the Kansas running back, Devin Neal. But, as it turns out, they weren't swearing at him or berating him. Instead...they were shouting "all positive things" and "showing the love."
In this clip, the commentator accuses the BYU fans of killing their opponents with kindness! Haha. Who does that to the opposing team? These BYU fans are really something. What a culture Kalani Sitake has created here at BYU!
Total class act!! Go COUGS!!
Happy Thanksgiving!!
