* Mornay Sauce: To finished sauce, stir in 1/2 cup finely shredded Swiss cheese. Cover and let stand for 1 minute or until cheese melts. Cheesy Mustard Sauce: To finished sauce, stir in 3/4 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese and 1 tablespoon prepared mustard. Cover and let stand for 1 minute or until cheese melts. English Sauce: To finished sauce, stir in 1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons prepared horseradish sauce until blended. Curry Sauce: Stir 2 to 3 teaspoons curry powder into melted butter along with the flour. Thick White Sauce: Use 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour instead of 2 tablespoons. Place butter in a 4-cup microwavable measuring cup or bowl. Microwave, uncovered, at 100% power (700 watts) for 45 to 60 seconds or until melted. Stir in flour and bouillon granules until blended. Stir in milk until smooth. Microwave, uncovered, at 100% power for 3 to 4 minutes or until sauce comes to a boil and is thickened, stirring every minute.
Serve over cooked vegetables, meats, fish, seafood, eggs and hot sandwiches or use as a base for casseroles, soups or creamed dishes.
