To prepare the cake: Brush loose crumbs from surface of cake with a soft pastry brush. Place cake on cake plate. Remove a narrow wedge from front of cake for a mouth. Reserve 1 tablespoon of the frosting. Use remaining frosting on top and sides of cake, leaving inside of mouth unfrosted.
To decorate the cake: Before the frosting sets, pat tinted coconut onto frosting. Using small dabs of reserved frosting, fasten eyes onto monster. Fasten corn candy around mouth for teeth. Stick a marshmallow on top of each straw. Stick bottoms of straws into top of cake for antenna.
