Preheat oven to 375°. Grease baking sheets.
In a large bowl, mix brown sugar, butter, egg and vanilla until fluffy. Stir in raisins, walnuts, pineapple, coconut and chopped cherries. Stir in flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt until well blended. Drop by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart on baking sheets. Top each with a cherry half.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool cookies on wire racks.
Store loosely covered.
