Heat oven to 400°. Spray twelve muffin-pan cups with non-stick cooking spray.
Mix flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. In a large bowl, stir milk, bran cereal, and oats. Let stand 2 minutes to soften. Beat in oil and egg. Stir in flour mixture just until moistened.
Fold in dates. Fill prepared muffin cups three-fourths full. Bake 15 to 18 minutes until tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm or cool on wire racks.
