Magnificent Maple Marshmallows!

The first weekend in October our church always holds a general conference during which we get to hear from a living prophet and apostles. I love putting together a fun fall-themed snack board for my kids to snack on while we listen, and Trader Joe’s is one of my favorite places to grab fun fall-themed snacks!

I always end up grabbing one or two new things to try, and this last trip I couldn’t help but grab a bag of maple flavored marshmallows! If you read my previous maple article, you know that I am in love with all things maple-flavored. And when I marked a bag of mini maple marshmallows my vision became myopic and I made up my mind to make munchies with them! (Like my alliteration? ;) ).

Anyways. Maple marshmallows. These are a tasty snack by itself- because again- MAPLE. Especially if you toasted them in the oven for a couple minutes!! But I also love experimenting and trying new things, so if we are getting creative, there’s a host of things you could do with these tasty treats!

  • Instead of pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, throw in maple marshmallows instead! You could also do a fall version of a rocky road by keeping in the chocolate chips and adding some pecans as well!
  • Top your favorite hot chocolate recipe with them! I love Stephen’s Roasted Hazelnut flavored hot chocolate, and I bet maple marshmallows would go perfectly with it!
  • Rice krispie treats with maple marshmallows! You could substitute the rice krispies with Golden Grahams for a rich, cozy flavor. Apple Jacks would be an interesting twist and still very much on trend with fall, or any pumpkin-flavored cereal you have at your local grocery store! You could also try using popcorn for a delicious sweet/salty combo that would be superb with that maple flavor!
  • Toss some in your pancake mix for extra maple flavor! Just be sure to oil your skillet really well to prevent sticky messes! I bet this is especially tasty with pumpkin spice pancakes!
  • There are so many muddy buddy variations, and you could easily toss these in for extra maple flavor! Pumpkin spice muddy buddies, caramel muddy buddies, chocolate muddy buddies- all sorts of fun combos that would be so tasty with the addition of maple marshmallows!
  • Going along with the snack theme, create your very own trail mix/snack mix! Maple marshmallows of course, but then throw in some pretzels, craisins, dark chocolate chips, pumpkin spice Cheerios, pecans, etc.
  • Put them on top of sweet potato casserole for a tasty twist on this classic dish!
  • Make some tasty s’mores variations! Pumpkin spice cookies, maple marshmallows and dark chocolate sounds divine! Or how about white chocolate and almond cookies? Experimenting with different s’mores combinations would be so fun!
  • Use maple marshmallows to help decorate and flavor your homemade caramel apples!
