Get America Cook'n!
I liked your article so much May the Force Not Be With You, and I think many more parents need to read and re-read it, you might consider running it again.
There is always so much controversy about children's eating habits today. I can interview 10 kids and probably eight out of ten pre-schoolers would say they eat:
1. Macaroni & Cheese (Kraft)
2. Pizza (Frozen)
3. Chicken Nuggets (McDonald's)
4. Applesauce ...a good choice if the Moms would skip the sugar variety.
5. Chips & Cheese (Taco Bell)
6. Cheeseburger (everywhere....)
7. Cold Cereal (The one with the best toy or box)
8. Peanut Butter & Jelly...An American food, they don't put (sugar rich) jelly on their sandwich in Europe.
9. Scrambled Eggs (this is at least a fresh item)
10. French Fries
The problem with American children is that a lot of their moms, dads or caretakers are not cook'n anymore. It is a drive through lifestyle nowadays. Children are getting food. They are not getting nutrition. They are growing unhealthy bodies at very early ages now.
The Attorney General for many administrations has been warning America about its poor eating habits. How many Americans are paying attention? https://www.shapeup.org
Get some sales people out to this seminar, and get that software OUT INTO THE MARKET! Everyday more and more people who are famous are dropping dead like flies. Childhood and adult obesity is now #2 behind heart disease, which is #1. It has become an epidemic, and now it is affecting children.
If only parents would realize that kids 1) DO what they see their parents and mentors do, and 2) would understand that processed food is OK, but no one ever said you must totally live off of it.
Cook'n is EASY. It really is . . . my three-year-old Grandson cooks, and my own children were cooking their own breakfast by the age of 7. They were grocery shopping with a list and paying by age 10. They learned LIFE skills. Americans need to get off their laurels and COOK for their children and TEACH their children to cook.
And Cook'n needs to get this message across loud and clear. Who is going to need software if everybody just doesn't do any cook'n?
Turn off the TV and turn on Cook'n (on the computer of course). I would like to see Cook'n used in schools and colleges so people learn that we can live in our fast moving society AND cook, if we'll utilize the skills in your software. Somehow, somewhere, people, many people have to awaken the fact that computers, palm pilots, cell phones, and etc., are here to stay. Somebody has to do the cook'n. I cannot tell you how many people live out of their microwave. My Grandmother would turn over in her grave. :-)
Sincerely,
