Running Cook'n on Multiple Computers
Some Cook’n users have more than one computer in their home. They call occasionally to ask if they can install Cook’n in such a way so they can access it from any of the computers on the network.
If they install a separate copy on each computer then it’s difficult to keep track of your recipes. Ideally, you want to install one copy on the network and access that same recipe database from a number of different computers.
The answer to the question is a resounding “yes!” This is how you do it:
Pick any computer on the network and install Cook’n on it.
Then, simply go to the other computers on the network and create a Shortcut to the cook’n99.exe application.
The only trick is that you must map a network drive to the computer that has Cook’n installed on it. If you do not do this, the shortcut will not work. For example, the shortcut should point to “j:\Cook’n\cook’n99.exe” NOT “\\Lindon\\160gb drive\Cook’n\cook’n99.exe”.
If you do this correctly, you can install Cook’n on the computer in the den and access your recipes from the computer in the kitchen!!
Have fun!!
