Just before my birthday someone always asks me what my favorite cake is.

I used to say German chocolate with white coconut icing. But my daughter's fondness for New York style cheese cake smothered with a quality fruit pie filling now gives me pause. And of course. . . if I know the "cook" doesn't have the time and needs to purchase a store made concoction. . . then bring on the ice cream cake!
