Eliminate all sugar foods AND use a sugar substitute.

Juices of HONEY BEE, AGAVE plant, MAPLE TREE, and whatever Molasses comes from.

I would like to have been able to click on more than one. We use a combo of portion control and sugar substitute, depending on what we are eating.

however, never use aspartame or splenda. Use only natural sweeteners such as agave, stevia, xylitol

Being a diabetic I have had to be very creative to ebb my cravings for sugar. But using sugar substitute (one to one pourable variety) I don't have to give up my favorite breakfast treat of cinnamon toast

I try to use less sugar in cooking and making the packaged juices.

Who would give up a hot yummy cookie? Not me! hehe

I have tried to eat healthy but a lot of food that is good for you dose not taste very good

Sugar substitutes still create havoc in the body: the raise the blood sugar and tax the pancreas, adrenals, kidneys, and liver. Best to just retrain the tastebuds to prefer something else. I know, I'm speaking heresy here.

After reading your information and recipes using Agave, we are going to try it.

Splenda is a fantastic replacement, as well as the brown sugar replacement! Once I accidentally used splenda in my banana bread, and even my regular consumers (friends and family) though the bread actually tasted better and asked what I had done to make a crispier crust, and different texture, and banana bread is one of those things I bake all the time to give away to neighbors, contractors, doctor's offices, etc, so now I just use splenda all the time!

My husband is an easy diabetic - controlled completed by his diet - but since none of us need much sugar, I don't bake as much. With two boys in college, they get regular baked goods - cookies, brownies, etc - but for baking here I have chocolate meringue pie, cheesecake, Apple Pie Filling and other goodies for my husband. Thank goodness - he didn't have much of a sweet tooth, though he does miss pizza and pasta especially - because we must must must watch the carb intake!

When I voted use portion control I mean only buy sugery sweets in small amounts right when they will be consumed. Like: ice cream I buy it at the dairy store where you get cones. That way not so much is eaten at one time and it is not in the house to be eaten whenever desired.

sugar substitutes are not healthy - they are chemicals

There is no substitute for the good taste of real sugar and there are far worse things that you could have in a good diet, but don't try to tell this to an RD.

which waste/waist do you want it to go to?

We need to decrease the sugar in our diet - more receipes using HEALTHY substitute please. Thanks!

Splenda is the perfect replacement for sugar!

Splenda is absolutely wonderful, my family can't tell the difference between it and sugar. They call me "the no sugar queen."

We eliminate foods with sugar, use a sugar substitute, and use portion control.

Sugar better than most substitutes

Need more recipes with Diaetic Exchanges

I use a combination of sugar and Splenda as I am diabetic. Usually I convert most recipes so I can eat them too.

Love Splenda

I use sugar substitute, use portion control and eliminate most sugary foods.

I limit sweet treats to just a few times per week and only have them as a dessert after a balanced meal. It is too easy to over induldge in these items when hungry.

We use portion control and sugar substitutes

Would love recipes using splenda blend or plain splenda. I had a gastric bypass and cannot use straight sugar so that is what my family gets also--which I know is better for them. diabetes runs in my family as well as many of our neighbors (older) 10/12/07 11:30:31 AM MST My husband's diabetic; thank God for Splenda!

we use stevia...you really can't tell it from sugar

We use 100 calorie packs to control fat and sugar in lunchboxes, plus unsweetened applesauce. We have ELIMINATED artificial sweeteners due to warnings (correct it turns out) from our teenage son. Turns out they were addictive too, but now I don't miss them at all!

Sugar substitutes can cause an insulin reaction in some diabetics. There are good sugars and bad sugars--eat the good sugars and control your portions.

Life is too short to eat bad food!

Sugar substitutes are iffy and they don't encourage us to straighten out our habits. Portion control serves us in all areas of eating, not just on the issue of sugar.

It's a requirement for diabetics

Hard to vote on because I really use the top 4 together to control my sugar intake.
