Dear DVO Readers:

Sorry that I have been absent of late. I just got back from 3 weeks in Kenya/Uganda, leading a humanitarian service expedition (see my other article this week). You would think I would remember from year to year how hard it is to acclimate to US time! I look like a zombie and feel like I have been pulled through a knot-hole backwards. I am doing better, but alas, articles are due and I can barely remember how to type.

Instead of the usual 3-4 articles I write, I have 2 this week and will be back on track the next time you receive the newsletter. In the meantime, I’m thinking of you and am grateful for your comments and the kind words I get from you from time-to-time. You are all wonderful and it is a pleasure for everyone at DVO to serve you.

Recipe for All Purpose Appliance Cleaner

My sweet sister in Denver sent me this recipe she got from a friend, who got it from a friend, etc. It works so why not share? Make up a portion and keep it under your sink for quick de-greasing of stoves, micro-waves, counters, and other appliances.

• 1 spray bottle
• Pour 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol in the bottle
• Add water until spray bottle is almost full
• Add 1-2 capfuls of non-sudsing ammonia
• Add a squeeze of dish soap
• Done!
