You're gonna 'Like' this new improvement to Cook'n!
The Short Story:
We changed the way we track the number of 'Likes' and 'Views' that your "I Made This" recipes receive. Now you can post your Made recipes on Facebook or text them to family & friends to get more 'Likes!'
The Long (but still very interesting) Story:
"HOLY COW!" I said to Kathy. "Your Ding Dong Cake with Chocolate Ganache recipe has over 1,000 'Views'!"
"Really?!!" she said in a very excited voice. Then, after checking the recipe, she responded in a disappointed voice and said "yeah...but it only has 15 'Likes'. Why does nobody like me??"
"Oh" I replied slowly "...about that."
Then, I went on to explain that her recipe got a lot of 'Views' because I published an article in the newsletter about her recipe (see Ding Dong Cake with Chocolate Ganache!). And, I explained that she probably got many more 'Likes' than that...they just didn't count.
You see, in order to prevent one person from 'Liking' the same recipe over and over again, we included some code in the URL to track the user's activity. The problem is that the link I shared when I published the newsletter article gave our service the impression that every person who clicked the link was ME!
As a result, every time the 'Like' button was clicked, the counter was like...
- 'Like'
- 'Unlike'
- 'Like'
- 'Unlike'
- 'Like'
- 'Unlike'
- 'Like'
- 'Unlike'
The good news that you're gonna really 'Like' to hear is that we fixed this! Now, the Cook'n Elves use a Session ID and even IP Address logging to keep track of how many 'Likes' and 'Views' a recipe gets.
This means that you can now post your Made recipes on Facebook, pin them on Pinterest, or email and text them to family and friends as a way to get more 'Likes.'
Woohoo! Let the 'Liking' begin!!
With this new capability, I have a feeling my son Jackson's days at the top of the "Likes per Recipe Made" Leaderboard are numbered!
