Larger Font and a New 'Share' Tab
The Cook'n Elves are making so many wonderful improvements to Cook'n that it's hard to keep track of them all!
For example, in the last week, the Elves increased the size of the font in the weekly newsletter. The larger font makes it much easier to read newsletter articles...especially on your mobile phone! These poor old eyes needed it. Thank you Elves!!
The Cook'n Elves also added a Share Cook'n tab to make it easier for you to share Cook'n with family & friends.
As you can see in the following screen recording, to use the new feature, simply launch Cook'n on your mobile device, tap More on the bottom navigation bar, and tap Share.
One of the reasons we added this Share Cook'n option is in preparation for the release of the new Family Plan. When you sign up for the Family Plan, this Share option will make it easy for you to share Cook'n with your family & friends.
The other reason we added the new Share Cook'n option is because we want to make it super easy for you to share Cook'n. We NEED you to share Cook'n!
You see...most software companies like ours spend gobs of money promoting their app. That's the name of the game! But, at DVO, we take all that advertising money and funnel it right back into app development with the hope that if we continue to make Cook'n better and better, Cook'n will spread by word-of-mouth.
We hope that if we put our entire advertising budget into R&D (Research & Development) and make Cook'n amazing you will tell your family & friends. We believe that if we do this well, over time, we will get MORE app installs by word-of-mouth than we would if we had put that money into advertising.
What do you think of our strategy?
Compared to other apps that you use, have you noticed that Cook'n seems to be constantly improving at a faster rate? Does it seem like we listen to you more than other companies listen to you? Do we seem more reachable and responsive to your requests?
Have you noticed that Cook'n just keeps getting better and better?
The truth is, this may not actually be the most effective way to run a software company in terms of growing the business and generating lots of revenue. In fact, if we were a publicly traded company with a Board of Directors and investors and so forth, we would probably be forced to pursue a traditional business strategy and spend more money promoting Cook'n and less money improving Cook'n.
But, we're not a public company. I own the company so I get to call the shots and I love the Cook'n Family...and I believe in you!! But, right now, we're falling a little short. We get some referrals each day but we are not getting as many app installs because of word-of-mouth that we need.
Please take a moment to use this new feature and share Cook'n! Tap the Share tab and post a quick message on Facebook letting your family & friends know why you like Cook'n. Tell them how it has helped you. And, tell them to Get Cook'n Good Look'n!!
About 5,000 people will read this newsletter article today. If those 5,000 Cook'n users took 2 minutes to share Cook'n right now and if each one were to reach out to 10 people, we could introduce Cook'n to 50,000 new people today! I think this is achievable, don't you? I mean...one post on Facebook might be seen by 50 people or more!
Rather than spending a bunch of money to get 50,000 new app installs, I would rather give that money to the Cook'n Elves to make Cook'n better. Doesn't that seem to make more sense to you too? If so, let's do it!
Actually, we've already done our part!! Check out some of the improvements we've made to Cook'n for iOS over the past year (see below...note: this is the iOS list only and does not include improvements made to the Cook'n Desktop App). Now we just need you to do your part! Please take 2 minutes right now and share Cook'n with your family & friends!!
