Beat eggs, sugar, and butter to a light batter before adding the molasses. Then add the molasses, baking soda, flour, spices, and milk. Heat it well together and bake in a moderate oven (350°, in 2 loaf pans about 35–45 minutes). If you use fruit, take 2 cupfuls of raisins, flour them well, and put them into the batter last.
Fun Fact: Houston, Texas, is the fourth largest city in the United States (after New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago), the largest city within the state of Texas, and "the Energy Capital of the world" (five of the six major energy companies maintain a large base of operations in Houston). Houston was founded in 1836 and named after then-President of the Republic of Texas—former General Sam Houston. In the mid-twentieth century, Houston became the home of the Texas Medical Center—the world's largest concentration of healthcare and research institutions—and NASA's Johnson Space Center, where the Mission Control Center is located. Only New York City is home to more Fortune 500 headquarters in the city limits than Houston.
