Trim 1 inch from stems of broccoli. Divide into spears. Rinse in cold water. Arrange spears in a 12 x 8 x 2-inch glass baking dish, with flowerets toward center of dish. Cover tightly with plastic wrap, piercing to allow steam to escape. Microwave at 100% power (700 watts) for 5 to 9 minutes or until stalks are fork tender. Remove from oven and let stand covered for 2 to 3 minutes.
In a small bowl, combine green onion, butter, lemon juice, salt and pepper cover tightly with plastic wrap, piercing to allow steam to escape. Microwave at 100% power for 2 to 3 minutes or until onion is tender. Transfer broccoli to a warm serving dish. Spoon butter mixture over broccoli.
Sprinkle broccoli with sunflower kernels.
