The "Never Have I Ever" Drinking Game

The highlight of our week is Sunday dinner. That's because all of our kids come home to visit (except for Carson of course who is serving a mission in Guatemala)!

We love chatting with the kids during Sunday dinner and hearing about their week. They're so fun! And, it reminds us of dinnertime when the kids were younger. That is, after all, why I created Cook'n in the first place (see the "What we Believe" section of the DVO About page)...to bring families together at mealtime! What kind of CEO would I be if I didn't practice what I preached!

We have such a fun time that our kids will often bring their friends. This past Sunday, my daughter, Brennah brought her boyfriend, her boyfriend's sister & her husband, her roommate, her roommates boyfriend, and a friend named Emma and Emma's sister. Needless to say, we had a large group (sheesh! I only have 14 Dowinx chairs 😉 )!

Everyone loved the Enchiladas that Kathy made. This isn't the best photo but taking the picture was an afterthought. Whoops! I'll try to get a more mouthwatering picture next time.

And, Kathy loved rocking her precious grandbaby. She's such a sweet, precious, sweetheart, love-angel girl!

Since it was Sunday, Kathy shared a quick spiritual message and then we played a drinking game. Haha. That sentence sounds a little funny, doesn't it? However, this drinking game is a little different than others you may be more familiar with.

Brennah brought a whole bunch of sodas with, shall we say, unique flavors such as:

  • Bacon
  • Dirt
  • Buffalo Wing
  • Butter
  • Sweet Corn
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Peanut Butter & Jelly
  • Ranch Dressing

She poured a little of each into a bunch of small tasting cups and mixed up the cups so you couldn't tell what was what. Then, she explained the rules to the game.

To play this drinking game, you take turns going around the room. The first person starts by saying "Never have I ever..." and then they try to think of something that applies to everyone else but themselves. For example, "never have I ever broken a bone." In that case, everyone who has broken a bone must take a drink.

As you can imagine, some cups taste pretty good. But, others (like Dirt, Butter, and Ranch Dressing) taste more like cough medicine than soda. Here is a quick video that I shot of our first attempt at playing the game.

It turned out to be super fun. It was hilarious to see the look on people's faces when they drank a nasty one. And, it was fun to try to guess which flavor we were actually drinking.

When it was my turn, after I said my "never have I ever..." statement, Kathy reminded me that I actually HAVE done that thing. I just forgot. So, I actually had to drink during my turn too! Doh!

We had fun so I thought I would share it with you. Who knows...maybe this would be something fun for you to do during the Super Bowl (FYI...I believe Brennah got most of these different flavored drinks from Amazon).

We hope you enjoy many fun family dinners in your home. If you have any game suggestions for us, please comment below and let me know!

Finally, if you're wondering if the monthly membership to Cook'n is worth the money, I would suggest that if it inspires you to make more homecooked meals and if it brings your family together at dinnertime, that membership is worth it's weight in GOLD and will pay dividends even when your kids are grown and move away!
