1. Crush cereal to 1/2 cup. Stir together cereal, flour, baking powder, salt, spices and sugar.
2. In large mixing bowl beat egg slightly. Stir in milk and shortening. Add dry ingredients, stirring only until dry ingredients are moistened. Fold in dried fruit.
3. Portion batter evenly into 12 greased 2 1/2-inch muffin-pan cups. Sprinkle with Sesame Ginger Topping.
4. Bake at 425°F for 20 minutes, or until tests done. Serve warm.
