Use Cook'n to convert to metric units

Q: I'm wondering how to translate American units to Metric units automatically in existing recipes on your software. I am a new immigrant who thinks in metric and who is frequently in metric countries cooking for others. This information would be most appreciated. --Robin Tamm-Buckle

A: There is a way to change to metric units. Click Units on the toolbar. Go through the unit list double clicking on common recipe units such as teaspoon, tablespoon, cup, and gallon and un-check the box that says, "use this unit when adjusting recipe serving sizes." Then, go through the list again, double clicking on metric recipe units such as liter, milliliters, kilograms, etc. and check the box that says, "use this unit when adjusting recipe serving sizes." Now, open any recipe and adjust the serving sizes to, say, ten times the present value. Click OK, then, do it again changing the serving sizes back to the original number. The units in the recipe will now be in metric. It's kind of roundabout, but it works and it's better than doing it by hand!
