Hungry Ridge Chicken

Directions:

Several years ago a bunch of us decided to try our hand at hunting white tail deer. To say we didn’t know what we were getting into would be an understatement. (Having hunted mule deer all our lives, it almost seemed like cheating on the deer’s part when all one ever seemed to see of a white tail deer was a white tail.) Anyway... we loaded a camp and headed for the Clearwater River country. Not knowing exactly where we were going kinda added to the sense of adventure.

According to the map, we ended up on "Hungry Ridge." I’m sure a story exists to explain that name, but our grub box contained enough food to where we wouldn’t have to worry much about prolonged hunger. If you want to see what, "Hungry" in a hunting camp looks like, look up "Hungry" in the dictionary and you’ll see a picture of three hungry game wardens coming through the flaps of my wall tent! Anyway....

A lot of recipes are born when the camp cook gets in a hurry and just starts throwing things together! Though I’m sure we weren’t the first group of guys to camp there and call their dinner "Hungry Ridge Chicken", this recipe came to be under such circumstances.
