1 Prepare the pasta. In a skillet large enough to hold all of the pasta, heat the oil over mediumlow heat. Lightly crush the garlic cloves and add them to the pan. Cook until the garlic is golden, about 5 minutes. Do not let it become brown. Remove the garlic from the pan and stir in the bread crumbs. Cook, stirring often, until the crumbs are browned, about 5 minutes.
2 Meanwhile, bring at least 4 quarts of water to a boil. Add the pasta and 2 tablespoons of salt. Stir well. Cook over high heat, stirring frequently, until the pasta is al dente, tender yet firm to the bite. Drain the pasta.
3 Add the pasta to the skillet with the crumbs and toss well over medium heat. Sprinkle with the cheese and toss again. Serve immediately.
