Season steaks with garlic, salt, drops of lemon juice and crumbled bay leaves and pepper.
When it is nearly time to serve, fry the steak on both sides in hot melted butter. When the steak is as done as you like it, remove from the frying pan. Slice onions, separate into circles, and fry in the drippings into which you have added 1 tablespoon vinegar. Let boil for 5 minutes.
Serve the onions on top of the steaks.
