Mix together flour, baking soda and salt; set aside. In a large bowl, combine sugars; beat in margarine and vanilla until fluffy. Add eggs, mixing well. Add flour mixture to sugar mixture and beat until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips, macadamia nuts and coconut, if using. Drop by 1/4 cupfuls, 3 inches apart, onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes, until golden.
