Preheat oven to 325°. Line an 8- or 9-inch square baking pan with foil, extending ends over edges. Grease foil.
In a 1-quart saucepan over low heat, melt 3/4 cup of the chocolate chips and butter, stirring until melted. Remove from heat.
Stir in sugar and brown sugar until blended. Stir in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla. Stir in flour and salt just until flour is moistened. Stir in remaining 1 1/4 cups chips. Spread in pan. Sprinkle with nuts, pressing in slightly.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes until top is set and brownie begins to pull away from sides of pan. Cool pan on a wire rack. Holding foil edges, lift brownie from pan. Cut into bars.
Cover tightly with foil and store in a cool place.
