Mix orange juice and 2/3 cups sugar; set aside. Mix remaining 1 cup sugar, shortening, and eggs; add raisins, orange peel, and walnuts. Blend dry ingredients and mix with milk; add to sugar mixture. beat well; pour into greased, floured tube or Bundt pan. Bake 50–60 minutes at 350°. Remove from oven. turn hot cake out onto deep plate and immediately pour and spread the orange juice mixture over it. Set cake plate on rack to cool. Serve warm or cold.
