1. Grate the soap coarsely, or sliver it with a sharp knife.
2. Place the soap in the top of a double boiler. Stir the 3/4 cup of water into the soap, cover, and cook over simmering water, stirring occasionally, until the soap has melted. When well blended, remove from the heat.
3. Combine the cream and olive oil in a small saucepan. Place over low heat and cook, stirring constantly, until blended. Do not allow the mixture to boil.
4. When the olive oil mixture is hot, stir it into the soap and water mixture. Whisk together until the two solutions are well blended.
5. Add the benzoic acid powder to the soap mixture, and whisk to combine until the powder is thoroughly incorporated.
6. Pour the cleanser into a wide-mouthed bottle with a lid, and store in a cool place. Do not refrigerate.
7. To use, massage the cleanser into your skin with your fingertips. Rinse off with lukewarm water.
