Cream butter until soft. Add both sugars gradually and cream until light and fluffy. Stir in egg. Sift flour with baking soda and salt and add it. Stir in chocolate chips, nuts, and vanilla. Mix thoroughly. Drop teaspoonfuls of batter onto greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake in a moderate oven (375°F) for 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
