1. Mix together the sugar, milk, egg, and oil in a large bowl with a whisk or fork. Add all of the remaining ingredients and stir until just mixed.
2. Pour the batter in an oiled 8 inch square cake pan. Bake in preheated 400°F oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
3. Cut into squares and serve as is or with butter and honey (or maple syrup).
