Combine sugar and one cup water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil; stir until sugar dissolves. Cool to room temperature; chill. Juice lemons to measure 1-1/2 cups juice; remove seeds and strain pulp, if desired. In a large pitcher, stir together chilled syrup, juice and remaining water. Chill for several hours to blend flavors. Serve over ice cubes; garnish with lemon slices.
