Today, we often take for granted the recipes that appear on nearly every Betty Crocker package. How did that get started? In 1928, the Washburn Crosby Company, under the leadership of James Ford Bell, joined with a number of other flour mills to become a larger, expanded company, now known as General Mills, Inc. To mark the occasion, Gold MedalĀ® flour began a long-standing tradition of packing recipes in the bags.
Consumers ever since have had the luxury of new recipes whenever they buy a bag of flour, although today's recipes are printed on the bag.
This IT'S IN THE BAG recipe is from the Betty Crocker's Best-Loved Recipes Cookbook. Download this Cookbook today.
