Impossibly Easy French Apple Pie

   _ large all-purpose apples (braeburm, Gala), peeled and thinly sliced (3 cups)
   ___ cup Original Bisquick®
   ___ cup sugar
   ___ cup milk
   _ tablespoon margarine or butter, softened
   _ teaspoon ground cinnamon
   ___ teaspoon ground nutmeg
   _ eggs
   Streusel Topping:
   ___ cup Original Bisquick®
   ___ cup chopped nuts
   ___ cup packed brown sugar
   _ tablespoons firm margarine or butter


1. Heat oven to 350°. Grease pie plate, 9 x 1 1/4 inches. Make Streusel Topping; set aside. Spread apples in pie plate.

2. In separate bowl, stir remaining ingredients until blended. Pour over apples. Sprinkle with topping.

3. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes.

Streusel Topping
1/2 cup Original Bisquick
1/4 cup chopped nuts
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons firm margarine or butter
Mix Bisquick, nuts and brown sugar. Cut in margarine, using fork or pastry blender, until mixture is crumbly.

HIGH ALTITUDE (3500 to 6500 feet): Heat oven to 375°.

BETTY'S TIP: To make Impossibly Easy Peach Pie, substitute 2 cans (16 ounces each) sliced peaches, well drained, or 4 medium peaches, peeled and sliced (3 cups) for the apples.
