Baked Turkey

Ingredients

1 (10 to 12 pound) turkey
1 Salt and pepper to taste
1 butter
1 Rome apple, quartered
1 onion, quartered
3 stalks celery, cut into quarters
1 pint water

Directions:

Preheat oven to 500°. Clean turkey; salt and pepper to taste; butter inside and out. Place apple and onion quarters and celery stalks inside turkey. Place turkey in baking pan with lid. Pour water in pan; put lid on tightly. Bake turkey in 500° oven for 1 hour. Turn stove off, and DO NOT OPEN OVEN DOOR TILL THE NEXT MORNING (8–10 hours).
