Line a 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan with wax paper. Mix together ham and 1/4 cup of the mayonnaise in a medium bowl. Place in bottom of pan and press down.
In same bowl, mix remaining mayonnaise, celery, sweet pickles and juice, mustard, and salt. Gently stir in potatoes until coated. Spoon over ham layer and press down lightly. Cover and chill at least 4 hours.
If desired, unmold on salad greens. Remove wax paper and slice to serve.
