This is an adventuresome end-of-the-week dinner that uses up all the dabs of food remaining from the week's meals. Family members enjoy it because they get to choose which foods they want to eat. A lazy Susan is an ideal vehicle for serving the variety of foods, or a series of small bowls can hold the delicious portions. A last remaining hard-cooked egg can be halved and garnished with pickle or pimiento, or deviled and cut into quarters, or made into sandwich filling and served on crackers.
Tag ends of cranberry sauce are tasty and colorful in the center of leftover peach or pear halves. Grated hard cheese mixed with mayonnaise or remnants of cottage cheese can be used to stuff celery. Cucumber slices on buttered bread, cut into rounds or small squares, make tasty open-faced sandwiches. Leftover tuna can stuff tomatoes big or little. Diced cooked vegetables mixed with small amounts of soup can be extended with milk, broth, or leftover vegetable juices to make soup enough for all. Meat, potatoes, and gravy combine to make great hash.
Lazy Susan dinners will be among your favorite meals. They provide practically a free meal and help to clear out the refrigerator, making room for another week of food buying and meal preparation.
