Turn toaster oven to toast at medium setting.
Slice the cake into 6 (1?2-inch-thick) slices. Place slices directly on a wire rack in the oven and toast for 5–8 minutes, or until crispy and lightly browned. Place hazelnuts on an 8 x 11-inch baking sheet and toast for about 5 minutes, stirring once after 2 minutes.
Slice pears into 1?4-inch-thick slices. Saute in butter over mediumhigh heat for about 3 minutes, or until cooked through and lightly browned. Place each slice of cake on a serving plate and layer as follows: 2 tablespoons Nutella, some pear slices, and a generous tablespoon of hazelnuts. Serve immediately. Makes 6 servings.
