1. Set oven control to broil.
2. Shape ground lamb into 4 thin patties, about 4 inches in diameter. Place 1 tablespoon of the cheese on each of 2 patties. Top with remaining patties, pressing edges to seal in cheese. Place patties on rack in broiler pan.
3. Broil patties with tops about 4 inches from heat 6 to 7 minutes on each side until lamb is no longer pink in center.
4. Mix sour cream and pesto. Place patties on bottoms of buns. Top with pesto mixture and tops of buns.
