Dissolve soup mix in 1/2 cup broth or water. Stir well; add 2 tablespoons of this to ground beef and mix; add seasoning. Add remaining 3/4 cup water or broth to soup mix mixture; set aside. Shape meat into 4 oval-shaped patties; grill or broil till done, 10–12 minutes. Cut French bread into 8 diagonal slices; grill briefly till toasted. Meanwhile, heat reserved soup mix. Place burgers between 2 slices of bread. Serve with hot broth for dipping.
