Mix dressing ingredients until smooth. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Just before serving, pour over remaining ingredients.
Fun Fact: The song "Yankee Doodle" had its origins in Norwalk, Connecticut. In 1756, a brigade of volunteers assembled at the home of Colonel Thomas Fitch where the young recruits set out to assist the British during the French and Indian War. Fitch’s young sister stuck a feather into the hatband of each soldier as he pulled out on his plow horse. The British, amused by the appearance of the troops, wrote and sang the jingle in mockery. The rest is history. "Yankee Doodle" became the rallying song for the colonial troops during the Revolution and in 1978 became the official song of Connecticut.
