Prepare short pieces of green saplings about 1 inch in diameter by removing the green bark. On a floured board, roll each roll into a 12-inch rope. Wrap the ropes of dough around the saplings. Leave enough space between the spirals for the dough to rise. Place the sticks close to the coals and allow to bake. Turn sticks to bake the dough evenly.
