1. Melt butter in large skillet. Add apple slices and sprinkle with sugar. Cook over medium-high heat for 2 to 3 minutes.
2. Butter one side of French bread slices. Layer apples, bacon and cheese on 6 unbuttered sides of bread. Top with remaining 6 slices, buttered side up.
3. Cook in a panini maker or George Foreman grill until golden brown and cheese is melted. You can also cook in a skillet, turning to cook both sides.
