1. Mix strawberries and 1/2 cup sugar in bowl let stand about 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Mash strawberries.
2. Whisk together remaining ingredients. Cook in medium saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, about 8 minutes until mixture thickens. Stir in strawberry mixture.
3. Chill mixture about 2 hours. Pour into ice-cream freezer freeze according to manufacturer's directions.
