Pare apples and slice thin. Combine sugar, flour and spices, mix with apples. Line the pie plate with pastry. Sprinkle a few corn flakes on the bottom of the crust-this keeps the crust from getting soggy. Fill with the apple mixture and dot with 2 tablespoons of butter. Cover with top crust and sprinkle with sugar for better browning. Bake in a 400° oven for 50 minutes.
