In large saucepan simmer wheat, water, and bouillon cubes (chicken-flavored may be substituted for beef-flavored) for 1 hour. In heavy saucepan brown beef. Add remaining ingredients (1 can [4 ounces] mushroom stems and pieces may be substituted for fresh mushrooms) simmer 30 minutes. Combine with wheat simmer 30 minutes.
Variation
Vegetarian Chili Wheat: Omit ground beef. Top each serving with shredded cheese to make this dish a complete protein.
