Fun Fact: The first two bells cracked while being tested; the third casting of what would later be dubbed the Liberty Bell was hung in the tower of Independence Hall on June 7, 1753. It was hidden in a church basement in Allentown from 1777 to 1778 to protect it from being melted down and made into cannons by the British. Rung every July 4th and on every state occasion until 1835, the bell cracked as it was being tolled for the death of Chief Justice John Marshall. The Liberty Bell was moved in 1976 to its present location in a glass pavilion near Independence Hall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
