Drain cherries; measure juice in a 4-cup measure, adding water, if necessary, to make 1 cup. Heat juice in microwave and dissolve gelatin in it. Chill till it begins to thicken; stir in sour cream and almond extract. Add cherries and nuts, and blend well. Pour into a lightly greased mold or loaf pan. Chill till set. Serve on a lettuce leaf, with a dab of mayonnaise, if desired.
